1st Year Wedding Anniversary - Paper

This weekend was great! We had absolutely nothing planned for once, or so I thought. We took the new Jeep out for a ride and started our Saturday morning off by visiting the coffee shop, Higher Ground, for a cup of joe and a fresh pastry. Russell continued to read his intense book, The Road, while I surfed the web and worked on some Address to Impress Christmas card orders.

Saturday morning was great but the afternoon was even better. I had no clue that Russell would surprise me with plans for the evening. Our 1 year anniversary is coming up on Sunday, November 11th. We decided to stick to the traditional anniversary gifts. The first year is paper. He wanted to give me my paper gift this weekend since we'll be in Starkville for the 'Bama game next weekend, the actual date of our anniversary. So, it was tickets to the musical Hairspray at the Orpheum! He also had reservations for us at Stella's, downtown. We had a great time! Thank you so much for the wonderful date, Russell.

If you know me well at all, you know I don't care for surprises. I don't know what my deal is. I think it has something to do with me not being in control of the situation. Now don't get me wrong, I love a good surprise after it's taken place, like my engagement for example. I'm just not good at keeping them a secret. I think I just get so excited about my gift or idea that I end up telling it early or giving it away and then have to come up with an additional gift when the day comes. Don't worry... I don't spoil other people's surprises, just my own.

Well, two weeks ago, we were eating dinner at the Como Steakhouse and I went ahead and gave Russell his paper gift. I got him tickets to see Willie Nelson. I know I should have waited but the tickets were burning a hole in my purse. Besides, I needed to tell him early just in case he had other plans that day and I needed to try and sell them. Note: if you know me AT ALL, you know that I can justify every single one of my actions. I've always been good at this. If you're feeling like you might have made the wrong decision about something, give me a call, I'll make you believe it was the best choice for everyone.

Russell has seen Willie more than a dozen different times in MS, TN, AL, and TX, but that didn't keep him from enjoying the gift. The tickets were for Sunday night so we had an "event"ful weekend, to say the least.
