100 Days to Christmas!

Who knew?!? Today marks exactly 100 days 'til Christmas! I have to admit that I miserably failed the 100 Days to Christmas Challenge last year. Christmas '08 was a blur due to the launch of Address to Impress and getting ready for our first January Market in Atlanta.

This year, my business partner Jennifer and I are determined to actually enjoy our Christmas Holidays! While balancing re-orders as well as introducing 100+ new designs for January 2010, we will be ready to 'jingle' with the daily dose of inspiration & motivation from 100 Days to Christmas.

Each day over at 100 Days to Christmas you will find tips, tricks, reminders and goals to make your holidays runs smoothly. They even encourage hand-made, crafted gifts at little to no cost. Hubby will be glad to hear this since we're just a one-income family this year. He's graciously supporting me in pursuing my dream with AtoI and allowing me to focus on it full time. This means minimal shopping for moi.

So join me as I take the 100 Days to Christmas Challenge...

Today’s Goal is to get together My Holiday Planner. This is easy since I love any excuse to buy a new binder! Anyone else miss shopping for school supplies? Okay, I guess I'm ready. Leave me a comment if you plan to join the challenge. Lord knows I'll need plenty of folks holding me accountable!

Don't hold your breath... but I'm going to 'sporadically' try posting again! I'm also challenging myself to post a design a day between now and Christmas over at the Address to Impress blog, so you can get close look at all of the designs you see in our display at Atlanta Market below.

Cinco de what?!?

National Stationery Show

So where have I been? Well, these days I'm not quite sure. By the looks of pictures that I need to upload and share, I've been to Atlanta and Dallas for the gift markets... to Columbus, OH for a DG recruitment workshop... to Aspen skiing with Hubby... to Jackson for Kelly's engagement party... to Corinth for Lyndsey's bridal shower... to Tupelo for Jade's baby shower... to Gulf Shores for Kelly's bachelorette party... and on a train to New Orleans for Kelly's wedding last weekend. I know there's lots more but I seriously get anxiety thinking about recapping it all.

One thing I can tell you is where I'm heading next week... to exhibit at the National Stationery Show in New York! I've been swamped to say the least. I can honestly say I've never been quite so thrilled and excited about something while at the same time so physically nauseated by its prospect, in my whole life. The butterflies and insomnia have officially set in. It's crazy to think that I will have a booth, where people might stop by... to actually buy paper products... from ME!?! Even with business going as well as it has, I'm still in awe when the fax rings or I reload the web page to see new orders to process. Our 27 sales reps are doing wonders for us... Address to Impress is in over 100 stores in 12 states just since January! That's in under 4 months. I can't wait to see what shelves we adorn in 2010.

None of this eases the worry that I have about our invitations not looking right against the unseen shade of chocolate foam core that was purchased months ago...or that everyone will smile pleasantly and then just walk right by us... without giving us a second thought. I'm so super nervous and really need to get back to work on the press kits. I have no clue how I will get everything done on my 'to do' list before I leave for the Big Apple in a week. But I also know that somehow, some way, I will make it all happen. If not, it's because HE had different plans. Everything somehow always comes together magically exactly as its supposed to... which is something I need to remind myself at 4:15 am when I can't sleep because I just remembered something else I almost forgot to do, like order the carbon copy order forms!

It will all work out... it will be fine. It must. Otherwise, I'll be forced to polish the resume 'cause Hubby will insist that I go back to working for someone else. And if it doesn't, stop back here in a couple of months to find some bargain basement deals on 12 tons of fabulous invitations and note cards by Address to Impress.

Literally, we are currently warehousing 12 tons of paper at the moment. Yes, we are prepared for the '09 Autumn & Holidays. So bring on the family photos for our 75+ new holiday photo card designs!

To Market, to Market

And I'm off...

Peace on Earth

She's the closest thing to having my own... a mini-me with a love for all shoes and Buxom lip gloss!

Since I'm not going to have my Christmas cards completed in time, I thought I would scan in my business partner's instead. I thought it was much more important to show this cute face!

Oh, and the design is by Address to Impress.

Atlanta and Dallas.... Here We Come!

Yes, I know I look ROUGH! I literally had two hours of sleep total in two days. We're shipping off our first box of market samples. It looks like I'm yawning more than saying "Halleluia."

Designs coming soon to a store near you!

My view for three days straight.

I know it's been over a month again. I truly wish I had more time to post but things have been wild with business. I know most everyone is crazy during the month of December but I can honestly say mine has nothing to do with the holidays. Especially since I only have 1 of my trees up and it was just completed yesterday. Not to mention that I have only bought one Christmas gift as well. You're the lucky girl, Aunt Kathy!

So I'm feeling ultra guilty for not returning phone calls and e-mails from so many of you. I promise they have not gone un-noticed. I love each of you too! I'm so lucky to have so many people who care about me. Unfortunately, I just don't have the time to tell everyone individually what is going on so I thought a new post may be the best way to let you in on the exciting news....

Heavens no, I am not expecting! No, something much more in line with my personal goals.... to start my own business.

Well, I did that just three short years ago with my friend Jennifer, but now we're taking it to the next level. We've been picked up my rep groups in both Atlanta and Dallas! We'll be showing in permanent showrooms in January at the Atlanta & Dallas Markets. Starting in January, we're going to have sales reps covering the following states.... Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas. Can you believe that?!?!?!

I honestly have to say we could not have done without the help of so many people. And I wish that I was through with asking for favors from friends and family but I'm afraid they've only begun. There's so much more to share with you all but I don't want to say too much until our attorney (Hubby, hehe) has looked over everything. Oh, It's killing me not to upload the pics of our catalogs, samples, packaging, etc. I hope to show you more after our debut at the Markets.

Merry Merry to you all!

PS- No, I haven't had time to do my own Christmas cards yet. It's just not going to happen. One thing I don't have to stress over. I'm hoping I'll get something done in time for Valentine's!

Mr._____Goes to Washington

Hubby waited in line for an hour to cast his vote this morning. I was able to walk in and out within 5 minutes by waiting until 9:30am. We will be bringing in the election at a Moving to Mexico party tonight. The results should be interesting!

Blast from the Past

Momma, a Halloween treat for you!

Me & my Halloween Cabbage Patch
October 1985

Wow, we beat Vandy

Note: Title should be read with sarcasm
Me and Hubby
Kelly, John Jackson, and Me
Me, Kelly, Sara Beth, and Stacey

We had the absolute best time at the MSU-Vandy game. Can you tell??? There's nothing like a weekend with your best girlfriends. I'm sure Hubby would agree with that statement. The day started off entirely too early after a late night out to Anthony's, only completed by a trip to Dave's (yes, Dark Horse Tavern). Don't worry, we were all champs. Kelly and I, especially, since we beat our neighbors at flip cup at 10 am in the morning. Come to think of it, Hubby probably deserves the gold star for setting up the tailgate at 7am. Thanks, Honey!

It was also Phil's birthday on Sunday. Umm, I bet that ride back to Jackson was fun. Not! Even more, I know the birthday lunch with the new extended family was a blast, hehehe. Either way, Philly Vanilli, I hope you had a great birthday weekend.

I seriously can't wait until we're all together again in February. What a great birthday gift to me!

A Trip to Anthony's

One of my dearest friends, the one and only Kelly Kirk (with the best monkey impersonation), was recently engaged and met us in Starkville to celebrate! We tried to show her fiance, Phil, that the Bulldogs know how to have a good time despite the losing season. We all had dinner at our favorite place, Anthony's in West Point. Somehow Hubby, Ray, and Amanda were able to dodge the camera. The rest of the crew is pictured somewhere in the collage above.

Oh and thanks for lining up the transportation, Sara Beth. Tell Delvin I'm sorry about the spill (as documented above)!

Flower Power

Last Friday, Hubby came home with two treats.... one for each of his girls. He said he knew he couldn't come home with a new dummy retriever for Bailey without anything for me. Hmmm, I think he's starting to catch on. Gosh I love him. He always know how to brighten my day.

Funny, for no particular reason he made us feel special. The power of flowers (or a dummy) is amazing, isn't it?

That night we had dinner and drinks with Keith and Ellen at Bangkok Alley. Always a good time with them! Afterwards, we went to see the movie Fireproof. I'll just say they definitely won't win an Oscar for their acting! However, every married couple should go see it.

Happy Halloween!

Cowbells and Riverboat Horns

Anyone going to Knoxville for the Mississippi State-Tennessee game? We are going early with my parents and plan to spend the week prior in the mountains. Hubby, Dad, and I are all Bulldogs and Momma graduated from UT so we're all excited about the trip. My mom said she use to take the party boats back in her sorority days and that this the best way to travel to the UT games, so it should be a lot of fun. They still have limited space available on the boat, so pass the word.

Cruise to the MSU-UT football game aboard the ‘Bulldog Battle Boat’
Bulldog fans heading to Knoxville for the Mississippi State vs. Tennessee football game Oct. 18 can take part in one of the great traditions of SEC football – arriving at Neyland Stadium by boat! Neyland Stadium is nestled up against the banks of the Tennessee River. By the thousands, Big Orange fans go to home games by boat, tying them together for a floating tailgate party, hours … if not days … before kickoff. They call them the "Volunteer Navy."

Cruise to the stadium in style and avoid game day traffic aboard the ‘Bulldog Battle Boat.’ The 200-passenger riverboat will board at Marine Park, approximately five miles downstream, and drop its passengers off approximately ½ mile from Neyland Stadium. Owned and operated by the Tennessee Riverboat Company, the boat will be at the Marine Park at 2:00 PM for all to board. The riverboat will provide a direct return after the game.

Reservations are now being accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. The cost is $50 per person and includes boat passage and a sandwich lunch. A cash bar will be available, and a DJ with MSU ties will be aboard.

For more information, contact Bill or Blue Reeves at:breevesms@gmail.com 601-954-9292 (cell) 601-982-5834 (home)

You must pay in advance to reserve your spot. Mail checks to: Bill Reeves, 1200 Meadowbrook Road, Unit #27, Jackson, MS 39206. Please provide your name, address, phone number and a valid e-mail address.

*Note: E-mail will be used to communicate specific details about the trip. Please include a valid e-mail address.

Finally, an Excuse!

Found here.

My mom found this quote over the weekend and said "Hillary, this fits you to a T!" If you know me at all, and you ask my opinion (or even if you don't ask), I'm often known to trump one's ideas. Until now, I've never known why I'm so bossy. Yes, I admit I tend to take charge at times. Finally, I have an excuse for the way I am!

Anyone looking for an early Christmas present for me? I will take anything from Mary Phillips Designs. I've loved her products for years now. I swear she just keeps getting better!

Here we go....

18 comments??? That's all I get?? No more love than that? I know who really cares! Proof is in the comments. Thanks goes to those of you who have not forgotten me. Let's just say that if I didn't have a stat counter that told me over 700 folks checked in just this week, then I'd say forget it.

However, it's your lucky day! That's if you're the caring (read: nosey) type who likes to know what's going on in others' lives. Oh yes, I confess I care about each of you too.

Even though I'm still not feeling very witty, nor do I think in terms of "blog posts" anymore, I am going to try to jump back in. No way am I going to attempt to post what's been going on the past 11 weeks and six days. I almost made you hold out until tomorrow for the three month count. Oh the mere thought of recapping just stresses me out! Instead, I'll just start...

This Saturday is The Junior Auxiliary of DeSoto County's Catfish & Khakis. It seems like I've been working on this fundraiser for months. Actually Address to Impress has just made so many edits, proofs, and "final prints" to the tickets and posters that it just doesn't feel near as cute as when we first designed it. I've still got a few more responsibilities with setting up the silent auction and signs this week. After this event, it'll be one less thing on my list of responsibilities. I can't wait to dance with The Bouffants!

Let me know if you want to go! Tickets are $40 each and you can buy them at the door.

Truth Be Told

I apologize I haven't been on top of blogging lately. I'm still evaluating whether I'm spreading myself too thin by being involved with so much in addition to my daily job (AtoI, DG Recruitment, JA, to name a few). I may be taking a break from the blog for a while since my husband, friends, extended family, and home are not getting the TLC they deserve. If you've called or e-mailed and I have not responded, please try again. I truly do appreciate them. It's the e-mails, comments, phone calls, and cards that inspire me to keep this thing going!

Mississippi State & Ole Miss Delta Gamma Officers and Advisers

While I'm still compiling all of my pictures from Convention, I thought I would fill you in on what's been going on and why this blog has not been a priority...

- Our church's VBS was last week. The theme was Power Lab and I was a Crew Leader for the pre-schoolers. It was the cheapest form of birth control yet!
- Hubby bought a Honda Accord and has decided to park his SUV for a while. That makes four cars for two people. We look like a used car lot!
- Hubby won his appeal! We celebrated last night at Old Venice with the attorney that had the case before him.
- My job it tough these days! The furniture industry is struggling. I may be looking to get into something else soon. Anyone know of any job opportunities that would be fun while using my creativity???
- I'm helping one of my college friends, get her china & gift shop, The Square Cupboard, ready for the Grand Opening on July 26. We're really excited that she'll be carrying paper products by Address to Impress, our line of stationery & invitations. If you're ever near Hernando, stop by!
- Jennifer, my stationery business partner, and I have plans to attend the Atlanta Gift Market next weekend. We will be evaluating whether or not to attend next year as an exhibitor. Exciting but nerve racking at the same time. If we decide to take the challenge, we're really going to need your support!

I'm sure there's plenty more I'm forgetting but I've committed myself to helping Jamie complete The Square Cupboard's window display in time for the 4th of July festivities.

I hope you have a safe 4th of July!!!

All Volunteery Eyed

Alright, I just may be in over my head. I've got entirely too much on my plate right now. If you haven't heard from me, I'm still alive and not ignoring you. I've just got A LOT going on!
It's officially Wednesday now and I haven't slept a wink, yet. I'm hoping to get in bed after I fold the last load of clean clothes. I'm half packed for my flight to Palm Springs, which leaves in about 8 hours (9 am).

I would have gotten in bed at a decent hour if I didn't have a 2 and a half hour JA meeting tonight. Yep, my first one that I've made it to. Let me just say... provisional = pledge. I swear it's just like a sorority, only worse. You pay dues, volunteer a bazillion hours, and there's not even a swap or formal to look forward to!

Speaking of sorority & volunteer, I'm off to learn some new rah-rah recruitment tips and to pick up a few awards at Convention. Yes, I'm doing the whole Recruitment Advisor thing again in August. So contact me if you know any great girls that just graduated from high school and are going through Rush at Mississippi State.

I'll be back next week...

Many, many thanks to Heather from Life with Lulu for her fabulous Summer Swap package! Heather is the mom of three precious girls and is a very creative handbag designer. Imagine my surprise when I received this large box of goodies after being away on business for so long. The gifts were to have a summer theme and boy did she put thought into her items. From the seersucker belt to the madras handbag, to the sunblock and beach towel, she really outdid herself. And thanks to her, I'm all set for summer now. If any of these items are an indication of her personal taste, then I know we would be dangerous shopping together. I absolutely loved it all! It's hard to pick a favorite item but I'll leave you with one of the recipes she sent that Hubby and I can't wait to try...

Skip and Go Naked

1 container of frozen limeaid

1 limeaid container filled with vodka

3 beers

Pour over ice in a pitcher, mix or shake... serve over ice!

Rowdy Frynds Recap

All our rowdy friends have not settled down!

This past Friday we went with eight of our friends to the Forum to see Hank Williams, Jr. And Lynyrd Skynyrd was a bonus. For those of you who attended, you know how exciting it was. For those of you who didn’t, you definitely missed out. The pictures above don't really do the night justice. Yes, it was that much fun!

Russell's Memorial Weekend

Hubby and one of his best friends, Greg Ochs, had a much more adventurous Memorial Weekend. They hiked the Grand Canyon! My only request was that he take plenty of pictures. He did take a good number of them but they were all on Kodak disposable cameras since he broke his father's digital camera at the BEGINNING of the trip. Typical. Yes, those are snowflakes you see in some of them. Apparently, it was snowing at the top when they started so the visibility was not the greatest. They were also able to fly fish on the Colorado River since they hiked with their poles. It appears he had a great time without me!

I tried to get him to guest blog about the trip but for some reason he has prioritized jury trials & depositions over my blog.

Note: I apologize for the quality of the pictures. It will help to click on the collage to make them larger.

Hillary's Memorial Weekend

The Memorial Weekend was great, mainly because Megan came to visit me from Ohio! Thursday consisted of two trips to the aiport (one to drop off Hubby and another to pick up Meggy), a drive by Graceland, Meg's first taste of soul food, cocktails at the Peabody, lots of shopping, and pedicures. On Friday we hit the road early towards Orange Beach for Kassi & Marc's rehearsal dinner and wedding...

Best wishes, Kassi & Marc Rushing!

PS- Meg, only 1 week and we'll be poolside in Palm Springs together...

Roll Call!

I desperately need to update my blogroll. I've been meaning to do this for a while now but I keep procrastinating. I figure I'll use this as an excuse to buy me some time until I find a moment to post the new pictures you've been so patiently awaiting. If I don't have you on my current list to the right and you would like to be, please leave me a comment! Also, if you're listed and you'd prefer not to be then let me know that as well so I can remove the link. Even if you're a lurker and I've never personally met you, I'd love to add your blog to the list so my friends and I can get to know you.

Note: This is a great way to increase traffic on your blog and make new friends!

Rough (week) & Rowdy (night)

I just got back in town. I've been on business for the past week in High Point, NC showing my new fabric line. It looks great! All I ask is that you all go out and buy some type of furniture. Our industry is really hurting these days.

I apologize if you have e-mailed, commented, etc and I have not responded. I have a lot on my plate at the moment and I hope to play catch-up this weekend. I still owe you picutres of Hubby's big hike, Kassi's wedding, and Megan's visit over Memorial Day Weekend. However, I'm currently busy with the following this month... Showtime in Tupelo, VBS, JA meetings, DG Convention, MSU Recruitment, and the list goes on!

Tonight we have tickets with about a dozen of our friends to see Hank Williams, Jr. and Lynyrd Skynyrd on their "Rowdy Frynds" tour in Memphis. Who knows, I might have a few pics to show you just how redneck we are in Mississippi!

I'm still here "wining & dining" my customers. Sorry for the delay in posts! I should be back at it next week, if not sooner.

Safe and Sound

I just spoke to Hubby on the phone. He made it safely out of the Canyon. I wish I could say the same about his father's digital camera. I tried to tell him to take our's since it was already broken but oh no, he had to go off and break another one. Now I'm just that much farther from getting my dream camera.

Memorial Weekend

Happy Memorial Day! Meg and I got back late last night from the beach... the weather was beautiful! I'll try to post pics of Kassi's wedding before I go out of town for business this week.

Hubby arrived safely at the Canyon. The last time I spoke to him was at noon on Friday. I won't speak to him again until he completes the hike, hopefully early Tuesday morning. Please keep him and Greg in your prayers. It's been so hard not talking to him!

We're off to Beauty Shop for lunch and then I have to drop Megan off at the airport. So sad. I just wish she would move to the South!

Wedding Advisory

I'll be at the beach for Kassi & Mark's wedding all weekend. Cross your fingers that the camera works!

Trip Out

Geez, you'd think Hubby was joining the Marines. He got a buzz cut and he's put himself in boot camp with daily marathons and lunges. Tomorrow morning he's off to hike the #1 wonder of the West.

Pictures to come if he makes it! Maybe I can convince him to guest blog for the first time.

On another note, we helped uncover the family's pool on Sunday. Bailey was in Heaven! That girl loves the water. She even started fetching off of the diving board. It wasn't easy but I managed to capture a few shots of her.

Note: Cousin Sophie prefers to watch from the sidelines!

Out of the Blue

My postings are getting a little out of order here. The collage pictures were actually taken on the Thursday and Friday nights prior to Stacey and Ray's wedding.

Jade, Mollie Walker, Me, Stacey, and Kelly at my rehearsal dinner in November of 2006

So I've been catching a lot of slack for not posting lately. I must admit that I've been a bit bummed and "uninspired", if you will. I actually lost 99% of my pictures from Stacey's wedding. Something to do with the memory card. It must be this piece of junk that I'm using. Hubby, I still NEED a Canon Rebel or Nikon D40! Anywho, I was also a little blue about Kelly going back to DC, Stacey being on her honeymoon, and Jade, Mollie, and I returning to our different hometowns. I know it sounds ridiculous but I miss all of us being in one location. Why can't we all still live in the sorority house but with our Hubbys too? Okay, so now you know the reason for lack of blogging.

Phil, since I know you're my faithful reader in DC, this one's for you...

As planned, I picked Kelly and Phil up from the airport and we headed downtown to meet Russell for dinner at Rendezvous. The pictures tell it all. We weren't ready to go home after dinner so we headed to Silky's on Beale St. for a few drinks and laughs. I should note that Kelly Kirk is one of the most outgoing people I know. If you don't know my great friend, Kelly, you're missing out. She hasn't changed a bit since college. If anything, DC has given her energy. She is hilarious and still so much fun to be around! The whole weekend was filled with firsts for Phil- Rendezvous ribs, Beale Street, Silky's divers, and boiled crawfish to name a few. I think he's getting pretty good at the Mississippi weddings by now, after attending our's, Mollie & Gere's, and Stacey & Ray's!

It was so great to get to hang out with all of my college girlfriends during the weekend festivities. Pictures above are a combination of the Bridesmaid's Luncheon at IV's and the rehearsal dinner at Park Heights in Tupelo.

Introducing Mr. and Mrs. Ray Carter...

We were honored to be a part of Stacey and Ray's wedding over Mother's Day weekend. Stacey has been my best friend since our first days in college.

The whole wedding was sweet and incredibly sophisticated, just like Stacey. She was as beautiful as they come. Simply stunning, to be exact. Ray was so sweet during the ceremony. Just thinking about it makes me get teary-eyed and smile.

If you don't know Stacey, she's even more beautiful on the inside. She is the most genuine person I know. Hubby's the second. I mean, who else has sixteen bridesmaids that they truly keep in touch with?

Highlights of the reception include Colonel Reb crashing the party, Note: Stacey's side is a fan of bulldogs, and a tornado that shut down the band and left us partying in the ladies' locker room at the Country Club. Despite a few kinks in the schedule, the whole weekend was the perfect combination of fun.

Best wishes you two! I can't wait to see the pictures from Maui.

PS- I started your family blog for you. You're married, so it's vow or never!

Hump Day

I'm off to pick up this book that came out yesterday. I can't wait to get my hands on it! I thought for sure that Hubby would have suprised me with a copy since it's been on the google calendar for months now. He claims he didn't see it.

Hmm, I guess I don't notice the dirty clothes in the hamper either.

Edited to add: Good thing I bought the book myself, 'cause Hubby sure didn't have it again this evening when he arrived home from work. This book better be worth the wait! I've delayed reading the book below since I had just started it two days ago.

Lastly, does anyone want to trade or swap for Remember Me? I really liked it, by the way. It's a hardback and in perfect condition. I'm not really one to keep books since I know I'll never read them again. Does anyone have a good chic lit that's fairly new that you want to trade? Just leave me a comment or shoot me an e-mail!

Shampowder by Buttercream Cosmetics Giveaway!

Guess what showed up in my mailbox this week?

The original Shampowder by Buttercream Cosmetics!

Jayne Polan, the creator of Shampowder, contacted me last week after reading my post about this other hair refresher. She asked me if I was interested in trying Shampowder. I said sure! But not without asking her for a complimentary hair powder for my readers. You all know that I'm a product junkie and it appears that several of you are too.

Well, I'm happy to say that Shampowder is every bit as good as the other dry shampoo I've tried. Additional benefits of the Shampowder include...

  • Convenient brush applicator- delivers the perfect amount of powder exactly where you want it

  • Pigmented mineral powder that blends naturally with a variety of hair colors

  • Compact, take-anywhere design fits into any makeup bag or purse

  • Best of all, it's less expensive. At $15.99, it's nearly half the price of other hair refreshers!

The vanilla-scented powder comes in two shades for dark/red hair and light hair and blends nicely into an array of hair colors. Other hair refreshers are only available in one shade- baby powder white! Which often leaves me looking gray.

Shampowder allows you to have freedom between hair washings. It's perfectly sized for travel or at-home use. Ideal for working moms! Freshen up for lunch meetings, after the gym- anytime you're crunched for time.

Still not convinced that Shampowder works? Check out Jayne Polan's TV spot on QVC just yesterday during their Beauty Beat.

You can buy Shampowder here at their site or through QVC.

Oh, and if you're interested in winning a Shampowder, then leave me a comment telling me your favorite hair product. Who knows, I may just have to try it!

Note: The giveaway includes a Shampowder for Dark Hair/Red Hair.

Altar'd State of Mind

I'm in wedding mode this week. No, Hubby and I aren't renewing our vows just yet!

For my best friend, Stacey...

She's marrying this cutie on Saturday!

So I'm off to Tupelo to help with some last minute wedding preparations.
I've been anticipating this weekend for a long time now. 'Just counting down the days until all of my college best friends will be back together again.

I'm picking up Kelly & Phil at the airport tomorrow and then we're headed downtown to eat at the Rendezvous. This will be Phil's first time to Memphis so we've got to show him around before we head to Tupelo on Friday.

I'll be back next week with plenty of pictures....

Margarita Monday

We had a great Cinco de Mayo with Will & Lee and Joey & Leah!

The guys played Bocce Ball while the girls gossiped.

Bailey loved the company but had a hard time staying when they threw the balls. She just wanted to play fetch!

We had too much food... margaritas, Coronas, seven layer dip, fresh guacamole, steak & chicken fajitas, margarita cheesecake, and sugar cookies that looked like tacos (and tasted like Double Doozies)!

Weird Weather

We're currently hiding out in the bedroom together watching the news. It doesn't look like Bailey's going to come out from under the bed to go get in the closet with me. It's hailing as I type this. Supposedly a tornado is coming through and heading downtown Memphis towards Hubby.

Check Us Out

We've added some specials and are hosting a giveaway here.

Friday's Find

I found this mirror and I'm trying to convince Hubby that we need it. I'd say it's about 7 feet tall.

I've been thinking, Mother's Day is coming up and I am a pretty good caretaker for Bailey Girl. I'm just not so sure that will fly with Hubby.

Maybe if y'all comment on here telling me how much I need it, he'll think it's a good deal!

Life's A Beach

It's 80 degrees and sunny today. Oh, how I wish I was at the beach right now.

Instead, we added the above beach house design in an attempt to hold us over until we can get there. I'm swamped with orders but I'll be back to posting soon!

Out of the Closet

Okay, I'm coming out of the closet. I have a confession to make.

I have forced Hubby to share this walk-in closet with me for the past year...

(180 degree view from left to right)

Is that ridiculous or what???

I know, I know. I should be ashamed.

Now, don't go criticizing. Just because I'm not "neat" doesn't mean I'm not "organized." I always have stuff strewn all over the place but I know where everything is. So do many other entrepreneurs, salespeople, and creative people. A lot of us are the "out of sight, out of mind" type of people. That's why I like to have little organized piles all over the house.

I decided I would just dive in and start dragging it out into the bathroom & bedroom (on the bed, floors, etc.). I figured this would force me to go through it all before my parents come in town this weekend.

So, I took a trip to Garden Ridge for the baskets and a second dirty clothes hamper. I like to separate my colors from my whites for quicker washing.

And here are the results:

Okay, so I know it's not color coordinated or anything like that but I'm just too busy trying to sell fabric and design paper products to worry with all of that. Hubby's just glad you can actually see the floors and walk-in the closet!

Lastly, what should I do with all of this stuff? The majority of it is NOT junk. It's either too small to wear or not "In Style".

Should I have a yard sale? I've never personally had one but my experience with them is that people expect you to just give it away. If that's the case, I would just as soon donate it to GoodWill.

Do any of you have any experience of selling on E-bay? I've bought on there plenty of times but I've never sold anything. Any tips or suggestions?

Upside-Down Hike

Going from rim to rim in the Grand Canyon, by contrast, is what's called an upside-down hike.

Guess who's going to attempt it?

No, silly, not this Princess! I'll be attending a friend's wedding at the beach.

But those are the plans of my adventurous Hubby & his buddy Greg!

Yep, they just received word from the Canyon District Ranger himself that they have the official permit to hike over the Memorial Day holiday.

In the meantime, Bailey & I'll be seeing that his life insurance policy is in place.

Maxine

You gotta love Maxine. I got the funniest e-mail today. You can check it out here.

By the way, I have plenty of housecleaning to do. I swear I'm going to start cleaning out the master closet today. I may or may not show you pictures when I'm done.

Shampowder

Okay, so confess. How many of you recycle your hair like Clemsongirl?

Any of you tried the baby powder trick? Well, it's never worked for me. It's always left white residual streaks, leaving me looking like a raccoon.

I know my hairdressers (yes, there's more than one. I'm a cheater!) claim that if you color treat your hair, then washing it everyday will make the color fade. And if you blow dry and Chi it too often, then you're drying it out as well. Um, Mollie Walker, I'm referring to you now!

So, I've seen this Stila Hair Refresher in several magazines and I decided to try it.

Let me just say "I love it!"

No matter how dirty and greasy your hair is, this powder will soak up oil, make your hair smell great, and give it WAYYYY more body.

Perfect for times when you're just busy, or to extend a styling/blowout. Just remember to use it a little at a time 'til you know how much to put on! A little powder goes a long way, so the bottle should last a really long time. And if you OD (over dose), all it takes is a good brushing to blend the powder in.

It's also scented so it'll leave a bit of a fragrance behind. Your choices are creme bouquet which is lightly scented with a warm, vanilla-amber floral and Jade Blossom (the one I have) is more garden-esque with a fresh, crisp blend of green tea, cucumber, and verbena.

Okay, enough said. Just go ahead and drop the 28 buckaroos. You'll thank me later for preventing that carpel tunnel due to using the round brush one too many times.

Baggage Claim

Do you believe this?

I just booked my flight to High Point for work in May and found this travel alert.

Be Warned: Airlines are claiming to charge us after the first checked bag!

We were only allowed two 50 lb bags per person in the first place. Do they know how much my toiletries weigh???

I'm so over flying.

Laine & Clint Mitchell's Wedding

Above are the last of the pics from the weekend. Sorry I didn't get any of the reception at the Colonel's Quarters. I was too busy socializing!

By the way, Blogger is being a real booger these days. It won't cooperate with uploading pictures.

Big Truck Theater

We had a blast at Laine & Clint's rehearsal dinner at the Big Truck Theater on Friday night. They offered hours of live music in an old barn, which was performed on the back of a rusty 1960 Ford flatbed truck right in the heart of downtown Taylor. Old Coke crates and antique bottles filled with sunflowers & lemons served as centerpieces, while the place cards were large rocks with our names in calligraphy.

Those included in the pictures above:
Me, Lyndsey Newcomb, Laine Dillingham Mitchell, Sara Beth Stockton, Hubby, Joshua Bryant, Blakley Atkins Fowler, Jay Shipp, Mimi Williams, and Clint Mitchell

Bridesmaids Luncheon

Looking at the pictures above, you would have never known it was raining during the Bridesmaids Luncheon on Friday morning. We had the best time sipping mimosas, wine, & bloody marys and visiting at the City Grocery. Everything was just beautiful! Oxford Floral did a fabulous job with the flowers all weekend. The highlights of the luncheon were smaller versions of Laine's wedding cake for each of the three tables served on an Annieglass cake stand to coordinate with our bridesmaids' gift, an Annieglass heart plate. It was the perfect start to a wonderful wedding weekend with hometown friends.

I'll post the rehearsal dinner and wedding pictures soon!

Tote-ally Works

Anyone love LL Bean's Boat & Tote bags as much as we do?

If so, I've got just the thing for you! It's a soft liner pack that converts your tote into a roomy cooler. And just so you know, I tried mine out last weekend at the beach and it tote-ally works! I have the large size and it held a case of drinks plus the ice. I love a cooler than I can carry to the beach and it won't leak!

If you need a new boat & tote as well, then check out this one that's on sale. It's available in this season's hottest color... yellow.

Aisle Be There

We're off to Oxford for Laine and Clint's Wedding Weekend. I can't wait to hang out with my best friends from high school!

We'll be partying it up in Taylor at the Big Truck Theater tonight and then riding the Double Decker around town and to the Colonel's Quarters tomorrow. I sure hope my camera lasts through the weekend so I can post all of the pictures.

These are the only pictures I have gotten my hands on from the weekend at the beach. I just hate not having my own camera! I'll post more as I receive them.

Camera Update: Hubby engineered that thing last night so it will at least take pictures. That makes me feel a lot better that I don't have to make a rash decision before the weekend. Keep commenting... I'm still open to more camera suggestions!

Greasy Does It

The Bachelorette Bash at the beach this past weekend was great with the exception of the sun poison we got on the first day that left my feet swollen like I was eight months pregnant! I'm finally able to wear something other than flip flops. At Wally World yesterday, I ran across a new Vaseline product while I was in the lotion aisle. It was Vaseline Cocoa Butter Vitalizing Gel Body Oil (whew! that's a mouthful), and I decided to give it a try. I'm a sucker for new products and two of my favorite magazines, Lucky & Allure, had both recommended it for the winter. It smells delicious. (I had wondered if it was going to have a suntan oil smell to it, because of the cocoa butter, but it did not.)

I used it for the first time last night when I started to get the itchies. I love this stuff! It is a bit greasy, but it's not runny because it is in a gel form (note that a little goes a LONG way). My skin is so incredibly soft this morning. I for see an addiction to this, right along with my scrub!

The only downfall I see is that there is no way I could use this body oil/gel as an everyday lotion replacement. It's too heavy for daytime but an excellent moisturizing night treatment.

Oh and if you don't watch out, you'll slide ride off the toilet seat! I'm just saying. Not that I would personally know.

And one more warning: I have been told that it can stain your clothes.

Oh, Snap!

I've got a problem. It's a big one too.I've somehow broken my camera!

Last week during Furniture Market I pulled it out to snap a picture of one of my fabrics and the mode switch next to the top right corner of the LCD that selects between Still Record, Movie, and Playback modes was loose. Ugh!!!

So Hubby has checked with a camera store and they claim I'm better off buying a new one. This will be my 3rd Canon camera in the past 5 years! I'm really aggravated that they only have a life span of about 15-18 months. I use my camera a lot but I'm not that rough with it.

I need your help! Please tell me what kind of camera you have and what you like about it. I would love to have a Digital Rebel but Hubby claims I'm "no professional" and that it wouldn't fit in my purse. Please help me get this camera or a better one by leaving a comment telling me how much I need it. I'll then make him read all of the comments so he'll hopefully buy it for me.

And make it snappy, 'cause I have a best friend's wedding this weekend and I've already missed a lot of good pics from the Bachelorette Bash last weekend.

Gimme Some Sugar

Anyone love this product like me? Yes, it is wonderful but at $65 a jar I just find myself conserving it.

Well, I finally found a product that can compete without breaking the bank. You can actually buy three jars of this stuff by BeautiControl for the price on one by fresh!

Anyone ever tried it and agree?

Also, does anyone sell BeautiControl and want to give me a discount if I buy a couple of jars???

Grandma-quis

This is my rental car. Are you jealous?

Everyone has been hazing me at Market this week because I'm driving this grandma car. Yep, a Grand Marquis! I didn't want to wait in line at Hertz any longer than I had to so I said I'd take the first available. No wonder everyone was waiting 45 minutes for an SUV!

I'm in High Point at the Furniture Market to check out all of Tietex's upholstery fabric placements for the season. Too bad I don't have any $$$ to re-upholster my sofa.

Can anyone figure out what these letters spell?

This is just one of many craft projects and invitations I'm trying to tackle today. I'll post pictures when I'm done!

Step On It

Hurry up! I need some shoe-ggestions.

Man, if I were still in college, I would own these in every color. Ah, those were the days... when it was acceptable to wear them with everything. Wait! Who am I kidding? I still attempt it at times. They're all just 3-5+ years old and without the Swarovski crystals.

Proper Dress Acquired

I plan to wear this dress (as an honorary bridesmaid) for a wedding in two weeks. Now any suggestions on shoes? I have both silver and gold already.

Tag, I'm It

Got tagged. Let me just preface this by saying that I HATE these things (no offense to you, Hai). Sorry, but I do. I'm doing this one and hoping that in the future no one else will ever send me one!

I was tagged by Hailey to play the “Who Are You?” game. So here goes--the rules of the game get posted at the beginning. Each player answers the questions about themselves. At the end of the post, the player then tags 5 people, posts their names, and then leaves a comment on their blogs, letting them know they've been tagged. Here goes:

What was I doing 10 years ago?
Hmmm. 10 years ago means I was 17. That means I was a junior in high school. It's lunch time now, so I figure I was flirting with some guy in the cafeteria. Oh, and probably gossiping with Sara Beth, Laine, and Lyndsey about the previous weekend's drama.

5 things on my to-do list for today?
1. Pay & mail the bills
2. Make Stacey's Bachelorette Bash banner & veil
3. Deposit checks at the bank
4. Go to the grocery
5. Make dinner for Hubby

5 snacks I enjoy.
1. Little Debbie's Peanut Butter Crackers
2. Anything chocolate
3. Red wine
4. Banana sandwiches
5. Reduced Fat Nilla Wafers

5 things I would do if I were a billionaire.
1. Pay off the mortgage
2. Travel, Travel, Travel
3. Buy Hubby his ranch in Montana
4. Build my parents their dream home
5. Build a house on the slopes in Jackson Hole

But Hubby would argue that we have to save it all

5 bad habits
1. Biting my finger nails
2. Procrastinating
3. Saying "Really?"
4. Not eating the right things & exercising
5. Buying things I don't need, but may some day

5 places I've lived
1. Corinth, MS
2. Starkville, MS
3. Columbus, OH & out of a suitcase for a year
4. Tupelo, MS
5. Hernando, MS

Very exciting, huh? Not everyone is as fortunate to live in Jackson, WY and hand out condo keys while snow skiing and hiking everyday like Hubby.

5 jobs I've had
1. Babysitting in Corinth
2. Ginger's in Corinth
3. Reed's in Starkville
4. Delta Gamma in Columbus, OH
5. Lane Furniture in Tupelo
6. PeopLoungers & Address to Impress in Tupelo
7. Tietex Interiors & Address to Impress in Hernando

Geez, I deserve to not work!

5 people I want to know more about.
1. Katie
2. Leah
3. Leslie
4. Mollie Walker
5. Ginger

BTW, that really wasn't that bad. Maybe you can send them to me after all and I'll just choose if I want to do it! Love you Hailey!

Sole Searching

Dear Tory,

I'll make this short and sweet. I've been dreaming about ordering a pair of your sandals for the spring & summer. While I adore your preppy-boho look, you are overwhelming me with your selection. Now I know your unmistakable "T" crest is fabulous and all, but you should have saved some of your designs. Why must you offer so many choices for one season?

And one last thing, do you really have to sell them for $300? I liked the $98 Reva price point much better.

Warm thoughts,
Hillary

PS- I'm dying to know who you're dating these days.

A friend had recommended this new magazine to me but I totally forgot about it until I stumbled upon this post via Pearls and Grace. Thanks for reminding me!

Have any of you checked this magazine out? I can't imagine anything better than holiday ideas & recipes, craft projects, and floral design tips, all along with Bible-based teaching & advice.

“Life:Beautiful recognizes the Christian woman’s desire to live everyday with passion and purpose,” Wanda Ventling, editor Life:Beautiful.

“Faith isn’t just for Sunday mornings—it’s a lifestyle choice that when woven into the fabric of daily life impacts a person’s outlook, plans, purpose, decisions, home, health, relationships, success, and legacy,” Wanda Ventling, editor Life:Beautiful.

California Dreamin'

I just found out that I'm getting to go to the Desert Springs Resort & Spa in Palm Desert, CA in June! It's located in the heart of the Coachella Valley, home to nearby Palm Springs. I'm so pumped to get an expense paid trip to Delta Gamma's 63rd Biennial Convention. I will be representing the NE Alumnae group while I am there. And the best part of all, I'll get to visit with so many ladies that I haven't seen since I worked for Delta Gamma in 2004.

Meg, I can't believe I'm going to get to see you two months in a row! I haven't seen you since my wedding day. Book our appointments at the spa right away.

Watch out Tracey & Kari, here I come... I'll meet you at the hotel lobby's gondola!

Kassi's Last Fling

Kassi & Hillary

Hillary & Christi

Back: Courtney, Hillary, Sharon, Leslie, Claire,

We had a great time at Kassi's Spa Bachelorette Party and Lingerie Shower. I decided to share just a few of the fun pictures.

Friday, March 28, 2008

Well, Spa-Ti-Da

I'm off to a Bachelorette Weekend at the spa for my friend Kassi. We're staying at the Ross Bridge Golf Resort & Spa in Birmingham, AL. I'm sure I'll post some pics upon my return...

Spring Fling Swap

So I finally participated in my first blog swap! It was called "Spring Fling" and was hosted by Haley Wood. I was assigned Erika Allison so I got to know her through her blog and sent her the gift above. She has the cutest boy/girl twins, hence the reason for the rubber duckies. I designed her some monogrammed gift enclosure cards, picked up a few pink & green kitchen staples from Williams-Sonoma, and couldn't resist adding a Hillary Heffelflopper chocolate bunny for something sweet. I use to get one of these every year in my Easter basket growing up!

To my surprise, Haley actually drew my name and sent me the perfect Easter gift below from Swoozie's. Thank you so much Haley! I just love everything from this place! And I especially love a festive serving plate and spreader combo because I'm always serving this easy appetizer:

Ingredients:
1/2 jar Harry & David's Pepper Onion Relish (Mom and I have a tradition each summer to buy a case on sale from the outlet store in Destin while we're on vacation)
8 oz cream cheese (I use Low Fat Philadelphia Cream Cheese and keep stock in the fridge for last minute apps.)
Chips, cracker, or veggies (I use Low Fat Wheat Thins)

Instructions:
Soften cream cheese in microwave for 30-45 seconds.
Add relish and mix together with hand mixer until creamy.
Serve chilled with chips, crackers, or veggies.

OR you can just pour the 1/2 jar of Pepper Onion Relish on top of the cream cheese block, like I do. Voila! Yes, it's that easy. It literally takes less than 2 minutes to prepare. I often times just whip it up right in front of my guests. I'm sure Martha would not approve. Oh, and I don't really have a name for it. Hubby just calls it "Harry & David's."

Oh, and I'm also signed up with Connecticut Charm for her Preppy Spring Swap coming up soon. I can't wait to see whom I'll be shopping for! There are a few rules for this one:

Sign up by: March 26
Post partners on: March 29-30
Send out items by: April 18

Theme: Preppy Spring with a color theme of pink and green.

Puppy Love

I just love the days I don't have to travel and get to stay home with Bailey. After a year, she still melts my heart.

Yoohoo! I'm through!

I dropped the stuff off at our accountant's office yesterday. However, I still have that nauseating fear that we might have to pay in this year. Being an independent contractor is so over-rated when it come to taxes! All I have to say is if we get any $$$ back, it's all mine. Because Hubby didn't so much as open his W-2 forms this time.

The Party's Over

I know, I know. It's a wonder you even still check in on me. I'm probably the most inconsistent blogger ever.

It's just when I am working on a project, party, invitation, etc I get pretty consumed until it is over. I just completed Stacey and Ray's Around the House shower last weekend. I would say the only downfall was that I forgot to take pictures of everything. We even had the paper lanterns outside. Oh well!

Here was the inspiration for the invite & party...

It all started with a photo of the two of us at my bridal shower!

Snow Time Like the Present

It's really starting to come down now. I'm still doubtful on the amount they're predicting. Either way, I'm making Hubby drive home to pick me up to go back downtown. The last thing I need is to wreck my new car!

Weather or Not?

We've had tickets to hear the raspy voice of John Prine at the Orpheum since November and now a winter storm warning has been issued for this afternoon! Hubby received the tickets for Christmas so I really hope we're still able to go. We're expected to get 3-6 inches.

The question is- Weather or not we will still go?

Hubby just called with the news that he had his first jury trial today and WON! That makes us 1-0. Glad to hear, considering that the partner decided to preview his performance.

Dell-ighted!

DHL just made my day with this delivery!
Oh, and it's snowing here too.

I'm off to the post office with more A to I orders and my best friend's Around the House party invites. I'll try to post after everyone receives them.

Keeping Up Appearances

Do you like the new blog design? I've never created a blog header before, not to mention wallpaper. I usually get tired of the same design but I just felt so plain compared to everyone else. We'll see how long it lasts...

Completely Booked

Anyone a fan of Sophie Kinsella? I just got her new release yesterday. This particular one isn't a part of the Shopaholic series, nor about Becky Bloomwood. But for those of you who do love Becky, there's going to be a movie and Isla Fisher will play her! You can read about additional casting here.

I'm also just counting down the days until May 13th for Emily Griffin's newest release! I've loved all three of her books so far. This one is about a woman--just 100 days married--who revisits an old love. I guess this means no more Rachel or Darcy.

So, during an interview a while back ago, Emily recommended Sarah Dunn's The Big Love. Anyone ever read it?

Lastly, has anyone tried SimplyAudioBooks yet? I'm just wondering if you like it. It appears to be Netflix for books on tape. Hubby and I listened to a book on audio (Gods of Alabama, not so great) while traveling to New Mexico. I know that Cracker Barrel rents them for really cheap too. Here's their program...

-Buy a Books-On-Audio tape at any Cracker Barrel location (prices range from $9.99 to $48.00). We also offer some titles on CD. Visit New Releases for a list of newly available books on tape or CD.
-Enjoy listening, and then simply return the book at the next Cracker Barrel you visit. We'll refund the purchase price, minus $3.49 for each week you've had it.
-Do it again!

Table Talk

As if I haven't received enough this month, Hubby also let me buy a dining table. I guess we're blowing right through all of that money we're saving! After living in the house for eleven months and looking for the right size, we've finally filled the dining room. Now I have no excuse not to host Bunko since I have muliple tables!

Fun-Filled February

How cute is this mouse pad? I'm going to have to get me one!

I feel like I have so much to post about but no time to do it these days. This month is flying by! I haven't even had time to post about what all I've been up to. I'll try to re-cap the past week...

Attended Saltimbanco and ate at Pearl's Oyster House- both were wonderful; worked the Furniture Market in Tupelo; designed three new invites with Jennifer (during lunch breaks and at night while at Market) for upcoming bridal shower, couples' party, & anniversary party, along with setting up numerous note card orders; rode with Leah to Libby's baby shower in Memphis- had so much fun gabbing with my girlfriends I never see (Mollie Walker, Hailey, and Christi); drove back to Tupelo to celebrate Stacey & Ray's big engagement party; bought a Highlander last night; and now I'm finally looking to buy a laptop this week with Dell before the sale ends.

Whew! I told you a lot has been going on.

Oh, and while I was busy with all of the above, both Blizzard Bailey & Hurricane Hubby decided to touch down at our house. Can you believe that? I mean I just got through with washing all of the long underwear from our trip to New Mexico. I guess you know what I'll be doing this week... cleaning!

As for the birthday recap, I'm finally ready to give one...

First and foremost, I want to thank everyone who remembered me with phone calls, texts, e-mails, blog comments, and cards this month. It seems I'm still getting them in the mail! You each know who you are and because of your words, February was extra special. Several of you I do not see or talk to as often as I'd like, so it meant that much more to receive them.

I truly have been spoiled by family, friends, and especially by Hubby this month. The family gave me mostly money and McCarty. I plan to buy a new laptop this week using my b-day $$!

The travel coordinator (read I) booked our ski trip during my birthday so I could have the day off of work since it fell on a Monday this year. Hubby bought me ski boots and a cute top from Lola. We also had an incredible dinner at Joseph's Table in Taos. We actually dined in one of the three booths that are recessed and can be private by drawing a curtain, which makes the cubby holes look like a Turkish harem. The complimentary dessert was the icing on the cake!

Yep, I'm all double black diamonds now! Just wait 'til our trip to Jackson next year, Stacey.

You sit elevated on cushions, Indian style!

Tonight's Plans...

I'm going with my Mom & Mother in Law to see Cirque du Soleil's Saltimbanco tonight. Anyone ever seen this particular show? It should be fun!

Multi-coloured beings slip onto the stage and climb on Chinese poles, which symbolize the sky-scrapers of Saltimbanco. Leaping from pole to pole the acrobats soar through the air in a breathtaking display of agility, power and speed. This act is inspired by a Chinese discipline and features the house troup performing acrobatic moves over 25 feet above the stage.

In a display of tremendous power and an unwavering sense of balance, two men engaged in a hand-to-hand duo push their bodies to the limits of human strength.

Full Court Press

Today is a big day at our house. Hubby is going in front of the Tennessee Court of Appeals this morning. He's arguing an appeal on a case that he won back in April when he first joinged The Firm. Win or lose, he's got to start somewhere. Many of his buddies from law school have not yet been given this opportunity, so we're proud.

Name That Tune

Familiar with Songza yet? It's a web jukebox and music search engine. Users can search and listen to songs, add them to playlists, embed the player in other sites (as I've done below), and rate songs.

Songza actually accesses music that's available on YouTube. But instead of showing you the video, it strips it and plays only the audio track. You can enter just about any band, album, or song title into the search box, and you'll most likely see at least a few songs listed. And best of all, it's FREE!

It just launched in November, so maybe that's the reason I've had several songs to load incorrectly and not play. Either way, it's worth checking out if you have limited music options at your desk.

Yes, I know this song is annoying. Imagine waking up to it in the mornings. Hubby has this song set to play as his alarm. Ugh!

Mom and I had a great time hosting Laine's shower in Corinth with all of our friends. Laine got so many great gifts to help decorate their house in Oxford. I know one of her favorites had to be from Sara Beth, a Danielson Designs' decorative sign from Ginger's. It says it all...

This is especially true for the four of us!

Oh, and I got one too for my birthday. Thanks SB!

On the road again...

The Orpheum Broadway Club
Valentine's Day 2008

I hope each of you had a lovely Valentine's! Mine was extra special with chocolate covered strawberries from Hubby and a card from Bailey. We spent last night in the Broadway Club at the pre-party before enjoying The Wedding Singer musical. You should check out The Orpheum's new website, by the way.

Recent invitation designed by Address to Impress

Well, I'm heading home to my parents' house to host Laine's bridal shower and to celebrate my birthday with my high school girlfriends. Hubby will be staying behind to care for Bailey Girl and to spend Saturday in the office preparing for some upcoming trials.

We're Back

Rio Grande Gorge
Taos, New Mexico

and we made it home safe and sound! We had an amazing time in Taos. We couldn't have asked for better weather. I can't believe I survived the 16 hour car ride with Hubby. It was all his idea to make it a road trip. We usually fly but he convinced me otherwise. I had no clue that it would be so much cheaper to drive! We spent less than $250 on gas for the whole trip. That's almost half the price of one plane ticket. Well, I'm buried knee deep in stinky long underwear so I'll post more later...

Wish you were here...

Awe, aren't we cute?

La La Love February

Some more door decor at your request - my most recent craft.

Ah, February is finally here! Below are just a few of the reasons I've been looking forward to this month...

- We leave for our ski trip in less than a week. Taos, New Mexico here we come!

Anyone ever been here? Any suggestions? Please leave a comment if so.

- My birthday is the 11th! I should be hitting the powder this day.

- We're going to see The Wedding Singer for Valentine's.

Speaking of Valentine's Day, have you seen this promotion for The Wedding Singer? the opportunity to get engaged on stage on Valentine’s Day after the show. The engagement package also includes dinner at Sauces, a $500 gift certificate for Robert Irwin Jewelers, and a bouquet from Flowers and Gifts by Regis. Oh, and two tickets to the show!

Do you know anyone that is planning an engagment soon? Rumor has it that no one has entered this contest yet. Can you believe that!?!? They're accepting e-mails for this cool prize through next Wednesday, the 6th.

- Tupelo Furniture Market is coming up. Yes, I have to work but I always find time to do some shopping. This make Hubby nervous. Some of my readers may recall this story. I always find so many rugs that I think I need.

I have a couple of more posts that I need to play catch up on before I start packing all of the long underwear. I'll be back...

A+ for Disney's "High School Musical"

Ah, high school... I can almost recall a few of my lines as Rosie Alvarez in Bye Bye Birdie now.

On Sunday afternoon, Mom and I attended the performance of High School Musical at the Orpheum in Memphis. It was so cute! What was even better is that Russell had gotten us third row seats!!! ( We love you, Hubby)

I’m pretty sure we were some of the only people there either not under the age of twelve or parents with several screaming and overly-excited children! But it was great to see so many young people falling in love with the theater. I really think it's important to produce shows that bring a new generation to the Orpheum. I also loved seeing so many little men there, interested in the sports theme.

Of course Mom and I couldn't leave without visiting Blues City Pastry, only a block away, for the perfect after-theater treat. They have some of the best chocolate mousse around! Stop by before or after your next show and try one of their popular Mud Island Mud Squares or Symphony Squares. You won't be dissappointed!

Oh! And if you're interested in season tickets to the Orpheum, they're still available. They're now offering a mini-season with three shows starting with The Wedding Singer in February. Who knew that you could get season tickets for as little as $65.25? That's less than $22 per show!

Check their blog out if you're interested... www.theorpheumtheatreblog.blogspot.com or you can sign up for their newsletters here! That's actually how I keep up with what's going on. Often times, they give away free tickets for comments as well. Good luck!

Happy Birthday, Stacey Kay

Meet our best friend, Stacey.
And that handsome guy is her fiance, Ray. Whom we all really adore.

Today is Stacey's birthday. Hubby and I think the world of her. She truly is a best friend to the both of us. She and Hubby are close, like brother and sister. Because of her advice, I've received many wonderful surprises and gifts through the years. One in particular would be the fine diamond on my left hand.

I've been trying to get her to start a blog but she just started her new job as a Nurse Practitioner and she's also planning a wedding for May. I think it's something to do with being too busy. I mean, she's just playing doctor and planning a big party for the whole town of Tupelo! I don't see why she doesn't have time.

Actually this isn't her first time to debut on my blog, I've posted about how wonderful she is on several occasions. This time, I want YOU to wish her a Happy Birthday and to tell her how cute, smart, and sweet she is.

Go ahead, leave her a comment. Even if you don't know her. Wish her well with her new job, wedding planning, or just another year of life. She'll see it 'cause she stalks my blog all of the time.

And one last thing, tell her to start her OWN BLOG! I want her to see how friendly everyone is in the blog world.

We love you, Stace!

Too Little, Debbie

Oh, the disappointment today when I opened my new box of 100 Calorie Triple Fudge Brownies! Who knew they were so little??? I mean 1.75" x 1.75" little! You really fooled me this time, Deb.

I know what you're thinking... I should have known they'd be tiny since they're only 100 calories. I guess you can call it wishful thinking.

I've included a picture to compare the size to my hand. And no, I do not have giant size hands.

I've always been a big fan of two particular Little Debbie snacks, the Peanut Butter on Toasty crackers and the Be My Valentine & Christmas Tree Vanilla Cakes. (The last two are actually the same item in different shapes and are seasonal.) Hence the reason I grabbed the $1.59 box of "moist, fudge brownies with fudge frosting and ribbons of fudge icing." Wait, I didn't realize until now just how many times they used the word fudge to describe them! Should that have been the red flag?

So, I just thought I would share with you a glimpse into my diet on Day 14. Oh yeah, and I threw up twice in a one hour workout session with my trainer last week. Nice!

How's "getting in shape" working out for you?

Wedding Cake Ornament

I almost forgot to post my new Christmas ornament that I'm in love with! It's a replica of my wedding cake...

Camille from Pretty Girl Things runs an Etsy Shop with many beautiful replicas of wedding cakes. She is an incredibly talented artist who can take a picture of your cake and turn it into a thoughtful keepsake ornament or figurine. Intricate miniature cakes are made of polymer clay and are approximately 1.5 - 2 inches tall, depending on your cake design. They can be glazed or unglazed and have a small hook for placing them on your tree (note: they're substantially heavy). Such a cute idea for a wedding, anniversary, new baby announcement, or even personalized birthday cake!

Well, what are you waiting for? I have mine sitting out on my bookshelf for year-around. Besides, she's getting more famous by the day. So e-mail her a picture of your cake right away and she'll send you a quote...

Edited to add -
Camille's contact information and additional pictures of her creations...

Lucky Latte

Drum roll, please.... Katie's the lucky winner of the Starbucks gift card! Just shoot me an e-mail with your address and I'll get it out to you this week.

So, I must say that I know there are still a LOT of you out there stalking that are too shy to say hey! It's okay, I was just hoping to find out who you were. With over 500 hits just this week, I guess you do care that I'm still blogging a year later. Anyway, I'll try to keep it going. Cheers to 1 year of bloggin'!

Eight for 2008

It's really late, or better yet, it's really early. Either way, I can't sleep. Hubby took Bailey on her first duck hunt this morning for about six hours and they are both cutting some serious zzzz's. I guess they're "dog tired." I'm left wide awake to think...

I've been trying to come up with my resolutions for the upcoming year. To be honest, I hate 'em because I never stick to them, therefore I don't like to make them. Isn't it the same thing every year? Lose weight, save money, spend less, take a vacation, be nice, etc. blah, blah, blah.

Below are eight personal resolutions that I would like to attempt to stick to (in no particular order)...

1. Become more involved in the community
Hubby is doing well with his job so it doesn't look like we'll be moving anytime soon, hence the reason to get involved. I've already accepted an invitation to Bunko that starts next week; we've found a church that we really enjoy and they're already hitting me up to keep the nursery; and I suppose I'll be joining the Junior League soon enough.

2. Say "No" to magazines
Now don't get me wrong, my subscriptions are fine to keep. It's the weakness I have of buying them last minute in the check out line at the grocery. I've even been known to buy a magazine I already subscribe to just because it hit the news stands before my copy was delivered. This should really save me some money.

3. Cook at least three nights a week and eat at home at least four
I believe this is a big part of the reason I've put on so much weight this year. It seems like all we do is eat out. I don't even get excited over going to eat at a restaurant anymore because it's so routine for us. I know, I agree it's my duty as a wife to feed my husband a home cooked meal. This is something we both want to do.

4. Get in shape, stay committed, and enjoy it
Do you like how I re-phrased "lose weight"? It sounds so much better to say "get in shape." I hate to work out. I really do want to enjoy it. I was almost enjoying it right before we got married. I was at least in shape and committed but then we went to Italy, and then we moved from Tupelo, and then there was excuse after excuse after excuse. No more excuses! I start with Brooke, my personal trainer, at 8:30 sharp on Monday morning.

5. Keep the creative juices flowing by trying new hobbies
I love my business and it keeps me busy but I get bored very easily. I hop from one hobby to another. I'd love to take some classes to learn more about... smocking, photography, calligraphy, sewing, etc.

6. Stop biting my nails
I've done this my entire life. This is a terrible habit. I somehow found a way to stop during our engagement! I also had pretty nails again prior to the holidays. I can do this is just takes a lot of conscious effort on my part. I just can't let the stress get to me.

7. Continue to "live it up" with Russell in 2008
By this, I mean to continue going places and experiencing things together. We've been very fortunate to be able to travel a lot in 2007. Our family has been really great to keep Bailey so we can take off whenever we please. Whether it was just to Starkville for a game, to the beach with the family, or a fishing trip to Arkansas with friends, we've created so many memories during our first year of marriage. I believe this will be a fun and easy resolution for us since we've already planned a ski trip to Taos, New Mexico during my birthday and Valentine's!

8. Work hard for a successful 2008
Hard work is the key to success. We both must continue to work diligently at our jobs. If we truly want to be successful, we must be prepared to give up our leisure time and work past 5 PM and on some weekends. Russell has truly been a testament to this. I suppose this is the reason the partners just gave him a raise. I'm so proud of him. Have I told you just how great he is? On the same day of his review, I also found out some good news with work. As of this week, I will be adding the states of Florida and Georgia to my territory. I'm really excited and flattered by the increase of responsibility. Hopefully I won't have to worry about my dialect for these new southern accounts!

Two of Russell's resolutions include...

1. Only eating lunch out once a week
(Unless he's with a client or one of the partners is footing the bill!)

2. Leave the office by 6pm
This is one I'm personally excited about since that means more time with me & Bailey. Hubby's a very important man, billing $200+ an hour for his time. He would tell you that it's a privilege to get to spend free time with him. Oh, do I know! Don't worry, he's not vain. It's just the attorney in him- always thinking of billable hours.
