Happy New Year!

Wishing you a year full of new memories - Happy New Year!

Above is our New Year's card that went out (minus the purple satin bow at the top). Poor Russell has really gotten hazed over it. I'll definitely have to reconsider the cards I design for us and what I make him do in the future years. As I mentioned in a previous post, Russell's concerned that everyone will think we're not Christians since we did not send out CHRISTmas cards. Please know that I only did this because I knew there was no way that I would get a Christmas card out in time.

We're leaving today at noon to head to Nashville for the evening. We're staying with my best friend Stacey and her fiance Ray. I'm sure I'll have plenty of pictures to post once I return. I’ll raise a glass to a positive and prosperous year for all of us!

Proud to be an M-S-U Bulldog

The Jordan household has proudly displayed our Bulldog tree and MSU Nutcracker since the Egg Bowl.

This weekend should be loads of fun at the Liberty Bowl! Festivites started this morning with Russell attending a special team breakfast with his Dad. I hope to join Hubby downtown at his office for the parade this afternoon. We're also planning on going to dinner with all of our friends tonight. The real fun starts bright and early in the morning with my parents coming in town to tailgate and go to the game with us. I'm excited because we're staying the night at the Peabody tomorrow night. This is safe planning on our part so we don't have to drive back to Hernando after my booze and peanuts at the game and a night out on Beale Street. Go Dawgs!!!

Happy Birthday Russell!

Today is the big 2-8 for Hubby! He got to take a break from the office this morning to go duck hunting in Charleston. He's opened a few gifts which included cowboy boots, cashmere overcoat, fishing rod and reel, tweed sports coat, and more books. We have reservations for dinner tonight so I'll try to post some more pictures later. Until then, I'm off to the vet in Holly Springs with Bailey...

Happy Birthday, Hubby! Please work hard and bill a bunch of hours so we can "play hard" at the bowl game this weekend and go to Nashville for New Year's.
I love you,
Wifey

Comments = Coffee

I'm going to extend the Starbucks gift card raffle for post comments through the end of the year. I know there's got to be more of you out there. I've seen my counter report, there were over 300 of you just this week! Please just let me know who you are so I can keep up with you too. Merry Merry!

Oh, I'm off to get Hubby's last minute birthday "happies." His birthday is tomorrow so wish him well!

Merry Christmas from The Jordans!

Check back soon... I've got plenty of Christmas pictures to post so I think I'll just make a collage.

' Tis the season...

to be TIRED! Yep, that's right. I said it. I just couldn't resist. That's how I truly feel these days. And this post will probably make you even more tired. Consider this a warning that the post is super long and will probably wear you out just from reading it.
I know it's been well over a month since I last posted (Wii post for my brother doesn't really count). I don't know what my deal is. Wait. I take that back. I know exactly what my problem is. I've been entirely too busy (more to come on what's been going on, see below). It seems like every time I think about posting, I change my mind.

It all started right around Thanksgiving. I kind of took a break by default to the holiday and then I went on my business trips and next thing I know, I'm three weeks behind! The blog break actually felt nice. I think I was a little burnt out on posting.

Now don't get me wrong, I've continued to read everyone else's but just had no desire to personally post. I'm just not feeling very witty, creative, etc. It's probably because I've exhausted all of my creative energy on everyone else's Christmas cards. I also think it may have something to do with EVERYONE having a blog now. It's hard to come up with my own ideas and posts after viewing all of the others'. There's just too many out there... some are funny, some are boring, and some are just arrogant. I can't believe the nerve some people have. The things they post, it's like they think they're invisible just because they use "mr and mrs (insert pseudo name here)." Oh well, enough about that.

I guess the real reason I'm back is because I've had several people tell me that they've missed me and I'm just curious as to how many will actually post welcoming me back and/or wishing us a Merry Christmas. Which actually brings me to my next topic... Starbucks! Who doesn't love Starbucks??? I believe we all do, especially at this time of year. So I'm "passing the cheer" and giving away a Lil' Christmas present (a Starbucks gift card) to one of you who leaves a comment between now and Christmas Day. I'll actually give you until the 26th. It's also to celebrate our 1 year anniversary since we (read I) started this family blog. I can't believe I even care about this thing a year later!

Now, on to what we've been up to since Thanksgiving...

Above is our family picture at the Christmas Tree Farm two days after Thanksgiving. Isn't Bailey the funniest? I just love it when she cocks her little head to the side like that. It's as if she's thinking, "Mom, are you serious? Am I really posing for a family picture while wearing this ridiculous scarf of yours? Geez, I can't wait until you have a child so you'll stop torturing me. But wait! Does that mean I'll get less treats and fewer belly rubs? Maybe I'll deal with this one photo."

Next we have a pic of our wounded Bailey during Thanksgiving break. Yes, this is another story in which I feel merits a chapter in our own book, Bailey and Me. Like I said earlier, I'm just not feeling very witty so I'm going to save this story for a rainy day. Let's just say it involves us finding a chewed up strand of Christmas lights in the back yard (light bulb glass and all)!

I've had all of my Christmas decorations complete since the end of November for many reasons... I wanted to enjoy them for as long as I could, I hosted a spa party for some girlfriends the night before I left town on business, and I knew I would be in a bad mood if I had to decorate as soon as I got back from being out of town for two weeks (putting me too late into December to be putting two trees up).

Above are pictures of my outdoor decorations. I just love the glittered presents made of wrought iron that I got for 1/2 price! I'm also pretty proud of the wreaths since I made them myself. I've actually been making all of my own door decor since I have two doors and it costs me twice as much! I found the paper-mache flowers at the wholesale florist and decided to turn them into wreaths since they coordinated with the stripes and polka dots on the presents. All in all, I liked how it turned out so much that it inspired me to decorate a second tree that you'll see later in the post.

The tree pictured above is our real tree this year. It's filled with all of my Radko ornaments that I've been collecting over the years. It never fails, each year, while I'm decorating, I break an ornament. Yes, it's my fault, no one else to blame but myself. (That's pretty obvious since I'm the only one who decorates the tree. Do you sense bitterness? I don't know why you would. No, it's probably better that way since Russell doesn't stand a chance meeting my standards.) So Russell says to me, as a dirty word slips out of my mouth in perfect harmony with the clashing of the glass ornament, "Was it a good one?" And I think to myself, (read I say) "No, Babe, it was a bad one. One I didn't like. Just bought it for the heck of it. Good thing it only cost me $50 on sale." Bless his heart. Sometimes he's so naive. Just another reason I love him so. Mainly because he has no clue how much I've spent on Christmas ornaments alone. Good thing it was before we married!

Our second tree posted above is a "faux" pencil tree that my mother gave me to use in the foyer. I was inspired by my outdoor decor to put this tree up in the entryway. This is the tree you can see from the road through the front door windows.

Another funny story about Bailey and the pictures above... One evening while I was cooking (rare event), I heard Bailey growling out the window. I knew she was anxiously awaiting her father to come home from work. She loves to guard the window and just watch the road until Russell pulls up the drive. However, she doesn't really growl often so I went to inspect what was bothering her. I had just gotten home so she had been locked up in the back yard while I was out and about. I totally forgot that our next door neighbors had put out their yard decorations. Sure enough, she was disturbed by the big blow-up bears in our neighbor's yard. Russell carried her over to check (read sniff) them out as soon as he got home. Our Bailey, she's such the guard dog!

Another big event this month was my best friend, Sara Beth's brain surgery. Sara Beth and I have been the greatest of friends for over 25 years now. She, Laine, Lyndsey and I hold some deep dark high school dirt on each other. It was only natural that we asked her if she subconsciously told anything on us when she was under the knife.

Many of you may recall her story that I shared back at Easter. Well, she's doing great since her successful surgery on the 11th. You can keep up with her progress here at her Caring Bridge Site. In the meantime, she went on a date with one of her doctor's assistants last night so I'd say she's back to her ole' charming self!

Oh, I apologize for the graphic pic above but I just couldn't resist a shot of her staples! Besides, it was my only way of showing her what they looked like... through my digital camera.

You can tell by the picture above that the Christmas cards started rolling in last week. I have so many to add that I think I'll have to start displaying them elsewhere. Just so you know, I'm super behind on my cards this year. Actually, I'll be just on time since we're sending out New Year's cards instead of Christmas. You see, I knew that I would be late so I just decided to alter them a bit so it looked like I really had my stuff together. We all know that's not true! However, Russell's now concerned that everyone will think we're not Christians!!! But really, after designing everyone else's Christmas cards this year, I was over it and couldn't come up with a design for my own. It's kinda like that saying, "the cobbler's children never have any shoes." I guess that's me this year!

Lastly, our Bailey Girl turned a whopping 1 year old last Friday 12/14. She celebrated with a real ham bone and a new interactive stuffed toy that barks. Just what every dog needs!

'Tis the season to be grateful for family, friends, and pets!!!
Merry Merry,
Hill

1st Year Wedding Anniversary - Paper

This weekend was great! We had absolutely nothing planned for once, or so I thought. We took the new Jeep out for a ride and started our Saturday morning off by visiting the coffee shop, Higher Ground, for a cup of joe and a fresh pastry. Russell continued to read his intense book, The Road, while I surfed the web and worked on some Address to Impress Christmas card orders.

Saturday morning was great but the afternoon was even better. I had no clue that Russell would surprise me with plans for the evening. Our 1 year anniversary is coming up on Sunday, November 11th. We decided to stick to the traditional anniversary gifts. The first year is paper. He wanted to give me my paper gift this weekend since we'll be in Starkville for the 'Bama game next weekend, the actual date of our anniversary. So, it was tickets to the musical Hairspray at the Orpheum! He also had reservations for us at Stella's, downtown. We had a great time! Thank you so much for the wonderful date, Russell.

If you know me well at all, you know I don't care for surprises. I don't know what my deal is. I think it has something to do with me not being in control of the situation. Now don't get me wrong, I love a good surprise after it's taken place, like my engagement for example. I'm just not good at keeping them a secret. I think I just get so excited about my gift or idea that I end up telling it early or giving it away and then have to come up with an additional gift when the day comes. Don't worry... I don't spoil other people's surprises, just my own.

Well, two weeks ago, we were eating dinner at the Como Steakhouse and I went ahead and gave Russell his paper gift. I got him tickets to see Willie Nelson. I know I should have waited but the tickets were burning a hole in my purse. Besides, I needed to tell him early just in case he had other plans that day and I needed to try and sell them. Note: if you know me AT ALL, you know that I can justify every single one of my actions. I've always been good at this. If you're feeling like you might have made the wrong decision about something, give me a call, I'll make you believe it was the best choice for everyone.

Russell has seen Willie more than a dozen different times in MS, TN, AL, and TX, but that didn't keep him from enjoying the gift. The tickets were for Sunday night so we had an "event"ful weekend, to say the least.

A Trick & Some Treats

Some Treats...
The weather was perfect on Halloween night so Russell and I decided to sit on the porch and pass out the treats. We had candy, glow necklaces and bracelets, and play dough for the little ones. It was a hit!

And the Trick...
By nine o'clock, most all of the Trick or Treat-ers had come by and were in bed for school the next day. Russell and I decided to go up to the local pizza shop for dinner. We turned off the porch light to let any stragglers know we were no longer handing out candy. We planned on cleaning everything up once we returned. However, something told me that I should have moved everything inside before we left...

Notice anything different?

Obviously someone decided to take it upon themselves to steal the rest of our candy! They left the play dough, so I guess that tells you they weren't young and innocent.

Bailey was trying to "sniff" their tracks but she was more interested in the candy.

Practicing for Tomorrow...

So I thought I might should test Bailey in her Halloween costume to make sure she's ready for the big day. Good idea, I thought! Better yet, NOT good idea because she obviously hates having anything stuffed on her back.

Bailey loves all things stuffed... hence the reason our house is still standing. I'm a big believer in supplying her with enough bones and stuffed animals to keep her occupied. Yes, she usually chews the eyes off in one hour and tears the stuffing out in a couple of days but that's why I now buy her stuffed animals at the Dollar Tree.

She would just shake and shake trying to get the stuffed wings off of her back, all while I was trying to get a decent picture. Let's just say that I highly doubt she'll be making her debut tomorrow as the Angel we all know she is. Good thing she doesn't need her wings to get in Heaven!

Whoa, it's been a while...

I had no clue it's been 11 days since my last post! I guess I've just been so busy with work, stationery orders, & parties that I've neglected our family blog. I do apologize to all of our faithful readers out there!

So, to recap what we've been up to...

Yesterday we went to a wedding and two receptions in the Jackson area. One of Russell's best friends from high school, Justin Hall, married Jamie Monsour in Raymond. We then attended their reception in Ridgeland.

Later that night we went to a wedding reception at Lake Caroline in Madison in honor of Kerri Nance & Curtis Utroska. Actually they were married a couple of weeks ago on the beach and I was unable to go. Kerri's parents hosted a party at home in there honor. Russell and I were glad we finally got to celebrate with them.

We also got to see our good friends, Emily & Adam Brooks. Emily is due with her second baby soon. I loved hanging out with some of my sorority sisters that I don't get to see often enough.

Best Wishes Kerri & Curtis!

Emily, Kerri, and Myself

We had our Holiday Home Party in Olive Branch this week and have been busy filling Christmas orders galore! I apologize if I've been a bad friend and have not returned phone calls (um, sorry Meg). We've also added several acrylic gifts to the blog. Order your Christmas cards through Wednesday, Halloween Day for your 15% discount!

Last Saturday we had Jeremy, Elizabeth, Brett, March, Brittany, Gates, & Reid over to watch the Dawgs on GamePlan. Unfortunately, it was a big waste of $20 (due to the Dawgs' loss). We did, however, get to see a Halloween costume that was worth every penny.

Brittany brought her Halloween costume over to model for us

Do you see that cute wink in the second picture? If any of you know me very well, I'm a big winker. In college it use to get me in trouble because I would unconsciously wink at everyone. Sometimes they would think I was flirting with them because of this. Brittany picked up on my winks and decided to start winking back at me on her own for the camera! It was too funny.

We all agreed that Brittany definitely looks best as a natural blonde

We'll try to forgive Brett & March for dressing Brittany & Gates in all of that 'Bama garb

Couldn't resist a picture of Reid (in front) and Bailey begging to join in on all of the action. Don't these girls look like sisters?
